About DLI
For almost 60 years, the Drama League of Ireland has been supporting, nurturing and enhancing the aspirations and activities of practitioners in the amateur theatre sector through education, training, advocacy and advisory services.
Each year, since 1965, the DLI has held a drama summer school with highly regarded tutors from Ireland and abroad. The thousands of people who have participated over the years have returned to their groups with new ideas and renewed energy resulting in the very high standards now seen in amateur productions all over Ireland.
The DLI Library has an extensive collection, 5000 plus, of classic and contemporary full length and one act plays. We have long out-of-print nineteenth and early twentieth century Irish writers on the shelves, as well as theatrical biographies and stagecraft studies.
Services offered to DLI members include: our annual Summer School, countrywide workshops, the largest library of one-act and full-length scripts in Ireland, with loans available by post, a very competitive insurance scheme, Drama Festival liaison, a fortnightly newsletter & twice yearly magazine, play licensing and advice and information.
